The Meerlust Red replaces Rubicon when quality is deemed insufficient for the flagship blend. This efficient red is a Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. All the vineyards were green harvested during veraison to reduce yield, increasing concentration, tannin ripeness and fruit definition. The resulting wine was barrel aged for 17 months in a mixture of 1st fill, 2nd fill and 3rd fill French oak.
