Steenenbrug Red Blend 2023

This beautiful red blend presents a deep ruby to garnet hue, with a youthful purple rim in its younger vintages. On the nose, it offers an expressive bouquet of ripe blackcurrant, plum, blackberry and red cherry, often layered with notes of vanilla, cedar, and sweet spices like clove or cinnamon from oak aging. With time, more complex aromas emerge—leather, earthy undertones, and hints of dried herbs. On the palate, it is medium to full-bodied, showcasing a plush core of dark fruit complemented by undertones of dark chocolate, liquorice, and a touch of graphite.

The tannins are smooth yet structured, supported by fresh acidity that brings balance and elegance. Oak integration is typically refined, contributing subtle smoky or toasty nuances without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is long and lingering, often leaving traces of spice, mint, or dried herbs. A true reflection of the Stellenbosch region’s exceptional terroir and ability to produce wines with both richness and finesse.
