Niel Joubert Reserve Chenin Blanc 2017 (6 bottles)

From bush vines with minimal irrigation. Fully oaked. Spent 24 months in new 400 litre French barrels. As expected, the savoury element is prominent with notes of toasted almonds and shortbread too, but there’s enough fruit to balance it. Preserved quince, some dried peach and apricot, ending savoury and dry. This is a rich, powerful wine. Full-bodied with lovely palate weight and rounded mouth-feel. A very versatile food wine. Big and bold enough to handle almost anything.
